Siding complete

The siding is complete and the inside is almost done being sanded and primed for painting.

The house gets a facelift!

The whole front of the house is done being sided! The Hardie Plank looks excellent, I think ;) The sheetrock guys are almost done mudding the second floor. The oil burner has been fired up and the house is now being heated with real heat instead of the kerosene burners.

A whole new side of the house

The insulation was sprayed in last week and drywall has begun to be put up. The plumber has been putting together the heating system and we should be firing it up later this week. John and Tom have been assembling the exterior window casing and applying it to the windows. They also started installing the Hardie Plank siding in Harris Cream. Check out the pictures.

Almost roughed-in

The plumber and electrician are almost complete roughing in. I helped John (our builder) rough-in the central vacuum on Saturday and Katie and I did some gardening today. We seeded most of the lawn to see if anything would grow before the snow falls and planted some bulbs for Spring blooming. The insulation installers are coming Thursday to blow in the closed cell foam. Here is a photo or our back steps (another one of my slick ideas!). These rocks came from excavating the hole for our foundation ;)

Lots to post about

Electricity has been brought to the house, water line has been brought to the house, there are lots of things to post about today! All of the windows are in, all of the interior wall partitions are done, and the chimney was finally done last week! The septic system was inspected and backfilled today so there isn't a field of stone in the backyard anymore. We've got the plumber coming in this week to start the rough-in and electrician next week. Check out the pics below!

Chimney almost complete

The underground pipes were laid and backfilled on Monday and the electricity should be brought in next week. Chimney work continues and it is almost through the roof.

There used to be a driveway here

The trench was dug on Sunday so that the pipes for underground power, cable, and telephone could be laid, inspected, and backfilled. The driveway will be back soon!

Fireplace

The fireplace was done yesterday and here are some pics. Now the mason will slim down the concrete block footprint and bring it to the roof.

Almost weather tight

Shingles have started going up and the roof is almost complete. The chimney is making it's way up through the house.

We have water and poles...

The telephone company came out last week to put in the two poles we'll need for service and the well was drilled on the same day. Roof rafters are up and the roof has been sheathed. Shingles come next! The mason has started working his way up the house with the chimney and has completed work in the basement. He will be laying the hearth and continuing up through the second floor this week. Check out the pics...

Roof's a'comin

The second floor exterior walls are all up, ceiling joists in, and the gable ends have been hoisted into place and secured. Roof rafters are going up this week, and roofing will be underway next week.


In other news, telephone poles are getting installed by Monday.
