Floors are finished

Here are some pics of the floors after they were sanded, and coated with 4 coats of a tung oil based finish called Waterlox. Bedrooms still need to be carpeted (temporarily until we can get more wide pine!).

Lights, Floors, Staircase!

I took some photos at the house today to show how things are coming along. The staircase is finished and looking great with two coats of poly on it. Joe was up last weekend to help with the upstairs hallway wide pine and I finished the rest of the closets yesterday! John has put the mantel together that he designed with our ideas in mind. It's looking pretty fancy. Oh yeah, check out those lights we got, too! The floors are being sanded this week and John and Tom will be putting the finish down shortly after.

Happy New Year!

Since our last post a lot of work has been done and it's getting close to being finished. Tile in the bathrooms has been installed. Joe and I have installed most of the wide pine floors that need to go down. We spent a lot of time on our knees, gluing and nailing these beautiful boards down, I can't wait to see them all sanded and finished! John and Tom have been cutting base boards to get painted and installed. John has also been creating a custom built-in shelving unit that takes up some space next to the chimney. You can see it in the stairway and in the master bedroom.

The house gets a facelift!

The whole front of the house is done being sided! The Hardie Plank looks excellent, I think ;) The sheetrock guys are almost done mudding the second floor. The oil burner has been fired up and the house is now being heated with real heat instead of the kerosene burners.
